Backstory: In a society where women have earned supremacy due to their exclusive ability to pilot highly powerful mechs known as the Infinite Stratos, the grim Project Mosaica was designed in order to create the perfect human. This bioengineering project gave birth to Chifuyu Orimura, who would go on to become one of the most skilled and powerful IS pilots in history. However, during the project, two more subjects were created, Ichika, the sole male capable of piloting IS armors, and Madoka, the closest thing to a clone of Chifuyu that the project could achieve. However, Madoka’s existence was kept secret from Chifuyu, since she was considered a failure in their eyes. Carrying an immense grudge toward her “siblings” for her whole life, Madoka joined the terrorist group Phantom Task with the intention of killing Ichika and Chifuyu.

Silent Zephyrus:
-Madoka’s first Infinite Stratos (a mechanic exoskeleton that can only be piloted by women).
–IS can increase body functions and keep the pilots in a stable state. This increases the heart rate, pulse, lung capacity, amount of sweat lost, endorphins, etc. They also accelerate the user’s regenerative abilities (Vol 1, C. 2).
–IS armors possess a self-defense system based on energy shields designed to prevent pilots from overexerting themselves in combat. Once these shields break, the pilot is left defenseless.
-Can perform Ignition Boost, a technique based on increasing the IS’ speed in short bursts.
-Stolen from England’s IS arsenal. It’s an enhanced version of Cecilia’s Blue Tears.
-Contains the laser rifle Star Breaker, which also functions as a bayonet.
-She can also summon a knife out of nowhere.
-Contains six BITs, drones that can attack from a distance or defend the user.
Kurokishi:
-Madoka’s personal IS, an improved version of Silent Zephyrus.
–Functions as a “Second Shift” that Silent Zephyrs can transform into.
-It still possesses some features like Ignition Boost and BITs, but the armaments are different.
-It now uses a broadsword called “Fenrir Blow”, which can also turn into a whip.
-It possesses an arm-mounted Gatling cannon.
-In addition to its 6 BITs, it also possesses two hip-mounted Lancer bits, which function both as spears and cannons.

Reaction Speed of IS Pilots: Faster than Light (The armaments used by many machines throughout the series specifically use lasers, which pilots frequently dodge or block. The beams are often referred to as “lasers” or “light” in the official novel translations. This can be seen as early as in Chapter 2 of the first Volume, and it continues very frequently throughout the series to the point where there’s no need to even cite specific cases, BUT I WILL DO IT ANYWAY >:D)
